Quora asks: Can you suggest a cool place to stay in Miami Beach?
[Uh, yes. With one hand tied behind my back and half my brain doing something else entirely, no less.]
It all depends on your definition of "cool." Because of my position, people are forever asking me where to go, and I’m always a bit amazed that people don’t realize the proper suggestions aren’t always as elementary as they think.
For example, with all due respect to Casey Fraites, in my personal opinion, the Delano hasn’t Read more »
Quora asks: What are some of the worst breaches of journalists’ ethics?
(Ha ha ha ha ahaa is that just a field day waiting to be had or what.)
Fred Landis has done a nice job of identifying some of the worst cases in recent history; I would only add the widespread illegal phone-tapping of journalistic targets by Rupert Murdoch’s empire to his list. These cases are widely known and certainly do comprise some of the most offensive and atrocious occurrences. However, I would like to posit that there must be countless other situations that might never be revealed to the general public, or at least have nowhere near the chance of gaining the same exposure as these monumental instances.
For example, I personally have been the victim of blatant breaches of journalistic ethics several times. True, they certainly wouldn’t qualify as some of the worst examples, but I do firmly assert that the injustices imposed upon me by the media have dire implications. I am neither famous, powerful, nor influential— so if the media can so strenuously fuck with a piddling little nobody like me, imagine the global ramifications of such a thing.

Quora asks: “What do you wear on a typical social event on a billionaire’s yacht?”
(We didn’t realize this was such vital information to possess; our answer was even featured in Quora’s Weekly Digest!)
Answer:
A pedicure.
The one thing that succinctly marks knowledgeable “yacht people” is the removal of shoes immediately upon boarding (if not before). Shoes worn by the crew never touch the street. Read more »

Nightlife impresario Mark Birnbaum asks: "What do you like the most about night clubs in NYC? What do you like least?"
So we thought we’d let him know.
Hi, Mark Birnbaum. Okay well, you asked for it.
First of all, just so you know, I worked for Limelight, Palladium, Club USA, Tunnel, and Spy back in their heydays. So you can rest assured there are no grains of salt around here anywhere that you need to take alongside this bad boy.
What I like least about nightclubs in New York now:
Quora asks: “What restaurants in the world have the best views?”
So we figured we’d take a crack at it.

PX This presents THE 4.1.1NSIDER REVIEW
In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re getting sick of restaurants. New restaurants, old restaurants, hip restaurants, swanky restaurants, small restaurants, big restaurants, exotic restaurants, all of fucking Graydon Carter’s restaurants– we’ve tried them all, and we are up to our eyeballs in stupid goddamn restaurants already.
Look, we know why you’re here, we know what you want, and as you’re well aware by now, absolutely nobody else knows what they’re talking about quite like we at PX This do. Let’s face it, we’re so official, all we need is a whistle.
So, welcome to the 4.1.1NSIDER, where we’ll keep it brief. Just the facts, Jack. Better than that: just the facts you need. Hell, even better yet: just the facts you need on ONLY the coolest places to go. Wouldn’t it be great if everything in life were this smooth and slick? You’re welcome!
OMG pxthis dot com is back.
Wow, it’s been a really long time. Crazy, isn’t it? Lots of stuff has happened. Actually it seems like time has whizzed by and lots of stuff has happened, but at the same time it feels like everything is just fucking standing still.
Sooo much to tell. So exciting! But I guess I should first explain what the hell has been going on this last year or so.
Yah so, remember how I said this blog had to take a hiatus so that I could get cracking on my next book? Ha ha ha ha what a joke. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s coming along, I swear— but it got kinda totally sidetracked, of course. See, the PX This web series project finally started coming together, so you know how that is, I had to roll with it or maybe lose the opportunity and have to wait another looong while. And I don’t know if you realize or remember it, but that shit has been in the works since back in 2007.

“Per Variety, Daily Show correspondents Jason Jones and Samantha Bee have inked a deal with CBS to write and star in a sitcom about a celebrity chef and the two women who run his empire. That has eyebrows raised over at PX This, since, it turns out, their queen bee Abbe Diaz has spent over a year shopping a treatment based on her own book about her experiences with Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Eric Goode, and Sean MacPherson. A PX This rep, Angel Yamura, tells us that at this time they have no proof it’s anything other than a coincidence, but it’s a pretty ‘big’ and ‘odd’ coincidence. Meanwhile, Yamura says Diaz’s Webisodes will start filming in early spring (Michael Imperioli, Steven R. Schirripa, and John Ventimiglia of The Sopranos are onboard for cameos) and will debut on PX This’s site mid next year, assuming the producers can find someone fierce enough to play the role of Diaz. We can’t wait to see how Read more »
